LGBT Health Awareness Month
March is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Health Awareness Month. To mark the event, please display a commemorative poster at your facility and help make LGBT Veterans feel welcome. The poster can be printed on 8.5”x11” paper or used with electronic bulletin board systems.

This year’s theme, Let’s Talk! Sexual orientation and gender identity matter in health care, encourages patient-provider communication to facilitate patient trust, disclosure, and positive health outcomes. LGBT Health Awareness Month is an important time to bring attention to the unique health needs of LGBT Americans. LGBT Health Awareness Month is sponsored by the LGBT Program and the Office of Primary Care Services. For more information, please email LGBTProgram@va.gov.

LGBT Veteran Health Care Fact Sheet
The LGBT Program, working with the Office of Health Equity, put together a “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Veteran Health Care Fact Sheet” which provides information on LGBT Veteran health care, information on VA policies which promote high quality LGBT healthcare, and resources available to educate VHA providers about LGBT health issues.
