The VA's Educational and Vocational Counseling benefits provides vocational testing and career-planning services. Vocational counseling is referred to as the Chapter 36 program.

Counseling to facilitate career decision-making.
Academic and adjustment counseling to resolve barriers that impede success in training or employment.
This benefit does not include any money for education or training.
Eligibility
Veterans and dependents eligible for educational benefits under a program that the VA administers. -OR-
Veterans discharged or released from active duty under honorable conditions not more than 1 year ago. -OR-
Service members on active duty with 6 months or less until their scheduled release or discharge from service.
