VA Dependency And Indemnity Compensation

Program Description

Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) is a tax-free monetary benefit paid to eligible survivors of military Servicemembers who died in the line of duty or eligible survivors of Veterans whose death resulted from a service-related injury or disease.

Services

  • DIC benefits depend on the number of dependents and the date of the veteran's death. For a survivor with no dependents (veteran's death after 1/1/1993), the benefit is $1215 per month.
  • Survivors who are eligible for DIC benefits and are housebound or require the aid and attendance of another person for daily living may be eligible to receive additional monetary amounts.
